thick fog down to ground level and inside cockpit!

I am running fsrealwx for fsx and every time I run fsx with fsrealwx the weather loads and the screen goes white! If I switch to mode and move away from my airport the fog goes away. If I climb to several hundred feet I see what appears to be a thick bank of fog over my airport. According to the METAR data I should have several miles visibility.
